Over the past seven years, Councilman Sydney Harrison had the distinct honor to serve as the County Council representative for District 9. In 2014, he was elected to serve as the Clerk of the Circuit Court and as District 27 At-Large representative for the Democratic Central Committee. A native Prince Georgian, serving the citizens of this great County has been one of Councilman Harrison's greatest honors.
As the District 9 Council representative, Councilman Harrison worked to deliver more than 2,500 jobs, expand Brandywine's Town Activity Center, and support small business growth throughout District 9. He championed the construction of two new schools in southern Prince George's County and secured $9 million for the design and redevelopment of the historic Wilmer's Park. He also delivered more than $50 million in roadway infrastructure improvements to District 9.
Councilman Harrison is also a published author of "Soul Searcher: One Man's Quest to Discover His True Identity," reflecting his personal journey and commitment to self-awareness and purpose-driven living. His humanitarian work extends globally — including three self-funded missions to remote villages of Africa (installing water systems and building community infrastructure).
Championed nutrition requirements for children's meals and default beverages for children's meals. Also provided for qualifications, enforcement, and penalties.
Championed legislation declaring racism as a crisis and disease of public health, public safety and economic welfare, asserting its effect on the entire Prince George's County community.
Led community budget discussions and co-hosted the Council's inaugural podcast 'Council Conversations' to explain the $171 million budget shortfall to residents, advocating for spending discipline.
Served on the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments (MWCOG) Board of Directors and the Prince George's County Economic Development Corporation Board of Directors, representing the County on trade missions to S. Korea and Mexico.

In partnership with Manhood 101, Sydney hosts a free annual Overnight Boys Mentoring and S.T.E.M. Camp for boys in grades 6–8 at Camp William S. Schmidt in Brandywine, Maryland — providing mentoring, STEM activities, and life skills development.
In partnership with Love You More Inc., former Board of Education Member Lolita E. Walker, and Sydney hosts a holiday celebration for District 9 seniors — combining festive attire, community connection, and recognition of the county's older residents.
Sydney regularly organizes community service events including bulk trash pickup and document shredding days for District 9 residents, keeping neighborhoods clean and protecting residents from identity theft.
Sydney partnered with local organizations to provide Gratitude Boxes to families and individuals in need, during the Thanksgiving season, ensuring that our most vulnerable neighbors feel seen and valued.
In 2025 and early 2026, Sydney personally funded two-week missions to Uganda through DHR Ministries, serving remote villages by installing water systems and building community infrastructure. His commitment to service knows no borders.
